Lesson 18

Lesson 18 Being a Guest ( 2 )

David: Teacher, today's dumplings were truly delicious.
Mary: I agree. They tasted great. Do all Chinese people like to eat dumplings, Teacher?
Teacher Liu: Most Northerners are fond of eating dumplings. They generally make dumplings when celebrating birthdays, during holidays, or when having guests over.
David: So Southerners don't eat dumplings?
Teacher Liu: Not often. Southerners prefer to eat rice, and are not too fond of eating wheat-based foods.
Mary: I see! Then for Northerners, dumplings must be a very important (type of) food, right?
Teacher Liu: Yes, however making dumplings is relatively troublesome, especially when there are just a few people.
Mary: Yeah, just to prepare the filling you have to spend a lot of time.
David: But doesn't the supermarket have frozen dumplings? If you want to eat (dumplings) , all you have to do is go buy a bag.
Teacher Liu: You really know how to take the lazy way out! Still, when everyone is making dumplings together, it's very lively, and can be quite interesting.
Mary: How do the frozen dumplings taste? Are they any good?
David: They're good, too.
