Use “曾经…过” to talk about actions or states that happened at least once in the past.
"唐朝武则天掌权时,曾经任用过两个大臣。"
“只要” sets a sufficient condition and “就” introduces the expected result or consequence.
"你只要拿一个大瓮,用炭火把瓮烧得滚烫滚烫,然后再把犯人装进去,他受不住就招供啦!"
“把” shifts the object before the verb, and the complement (often “得…”) describes the result or degree of the action.
